To explore how we can create the conditions for meaningful youth involvement in child health research.
University of Exeter Engaged Research Exploratory Award
Brief description of the work:
Youth engagement in research can lead toward greater awareness and understanding of health issues as a community, public health policy, as well as research interests for young people.
We are working with two local schools, Torquay and Dartmouth Academies, to explore how setting up a Young Person’s Advisory Group could be mutually beneficial to young people and researchers. We are running three workshops this year where the students will be learning some research skills and advising us on projects. We hope that the learning from running these groups will help us establish a permanent Young Persons Advisory Group here at the Medical School.
