The overarching aim of this project is to <\/strong>co-develop a programme theory and evidence based physical rehabilitation intervention <\/strong>for people with advanced dementia who fracture their hip who are living in the community (either their own homes or residential\/nursing homes). <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Development Phase<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

a)      <\/strong>Qualitative study (focus groups)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b)      <\/em><\/strong>Expert consensus process<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feasibility Stage<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

c)       <\/strong>Mixed methods prospective longitudinal feasibility study<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Explore the methods and techniques that may be beneficial for managing people with advanced dementia<\/li>
  2. Determine the important components of an educational programme that physiotherapists would need to be able to effectively treat a person with dementia.<\/li>
  3. Develop and refine an initial programme theory and intervention<\/li>
  4. To gain consensus and information on treatment of people with dementia who fracture their hip.<\/li>
  5. To inform the refinement of intervention manuals and patient facing material<\/li>
  6. Explore the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention to people with dementia who fracture their hip, carers and physiotherapists;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    a) Is it feasible to deliver the intervention?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    b) Is the intervention acceptable to patients\/carers and physiotherapists<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Explore the potential impact on care costs that results from the physiotherapy intervention<\/li>
    2. Refine the logic model and programme theory<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
