The idea of living with friends might sound great, but in reality, it’s not always easy living with others. So how can you decide who might make the best housemates? Here are some tips…
If you and your friends have very different expectations about what you’re looking for and how you’re going to live, think carefully before deciding to live together. It may be better for your friendship if you don’t share a home.
Certain things can cause real problems for groups, including:
- MONEY – Be really clear about your budget for rent and bills. If three people are looking for a bargain and the other three want to spend more on non-essentials, you’re going to have a problem.
- CLEANING – different people have different standards. Before you agree to share, talk about these honestly.
- NOISE – if you and your housemates don’t agree on how much noise is too much noise, and how your home will be used throughout the day and night, it can be really stressful.
You can always use the Who to live with quiz to figure out who you might be compatible with when it coms to living arrangements. Talk things through, and be honest and open, before you commit to signing a legal agreement. Make the best decision for you by thinking carefully about who to live with.
