As March is almost done, we’re getting ready for our accommodation applications for 2025/26 to open on Monday 7 April.

To apply for University accommodation, you’ll need to create an accommodation account. You should be able to do this about a week ahead of the applications opening, if you want to get ready, and will need your Exeter Student ID number which you can find on any offer correspondence you have had from our Admissions team.

If you’re an undergraduate student applying before 31 July then we don’t allocate accommodation on a first-come-first-serve basis so there’s no rush to apply as soon as our applications open, so take your time to consider all the accommodation factors that are important to you before you do apply. If you meet our Accommodation Guarantee, you will be guaranteed a bed space with us. So, you have time to think about your 4 residence preferences before applying. Types of Accommodation

When considering your accommodation preferences, whether to choose a catered or self-catered residence is one of the main choices.

Catering options

Living in a catered residence will offer you the reassurance that your meals are paid and provided for you, leaving you free to focus on studying and socialising, whereas self-catered offers you independent living and the chance to improve your cooking skills.

Room Types

Our student accommodation offers three main types of room: Standard, Ensuite and Studio.

  • Standard rooms: Bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared with other residents.
  • En-suite rooms: You will have your own bathroom attached to your room and will share kitchen facilities with other residents.
  • Studio rooms: Your room is laid out with a bed and desk, plus a kitchen area and en-suite bathroom including shower, washbasin and toilet.

Accommodation Locations

Whilst Exeter is a small and accessible city, you may have a preference for being on or close to campus or enjoying the convenience of having city centre facilities on your doorstep.

All of our catered residences are located on Streatham campus. We have self-catered accommodation both on and off campus, all between 15-25 minute walk as you can see from our walking distance map.

We can offer self-catered accommodation across Streatham campus, close by in areas like St David’s, and also in the city centre. All of these residences are home to large communities of university students, so you will always feel part of something.

Those that are based at our St Luke’s campus often prefer to apply for accommodation close to St Luke’s at our various Rowancroft residences, Nancherrow or in the city centre at James Owen Court. However, many St Luke’s students enjoy the  living on the Streatham campus and make use of the good transport links to get to their lectures.

Price

You will need to consider what your budget is for accommodation and remember that you will need to keep an allowance for living as well. In general, the type of room you go for and the proximity of the accommodation to the centre of campus will both have an impact on the price.
