This weeks blog is all about….. Money (Yay!) Today we are looking at the cost of living whilst studying and living here, as well as accommodation fees and deposits.
Cost of Living at Exeter
The University website has put together a great table of living cost examples for you to consider. Obviously you may be paying more or less than this depending on several factors. You may want to take a look at our budgeting whilst at University video for some useful tips to help manage your money.
Some example term-time living costs (32 weeks) for a first-year student can be found below.
These are based on a UK student living in University accommodation. The Which? Student budget calculator offers a rough breakdown of living costs per month that you can tailor to your own situation.
Student A – living in catered accommodation in Exeter

These are term-time costs for 32 weeks only but include rent for 40 weeks – generally, rent is payable for 40-44 weeks of the year in self-catered accommodation.

Payment dates
Accommodation Fees are due at the beginning of the academic year in full, or in the following instalments:
Payments | 2022/23 |
Term one | 17 November 2022 |
Term two | 23 January 2023 |
Term three | 15 May 2023 |
These normally line up with Student loan dates. You’re welcome to pay in full but there is no discount for this.
