There is now less than a week to go until our 2020\/21 applications for accommodation open so this week’s blog is dedicated to getting you ready to make your application.<\/p>\n
When do applications open?<\/strong> Registering an accommodation account<\/strong> On your first visit to the Login<\/a> page you will be asked to register an account. You can do this by choosing either “Register<\/em>” in the top menu bar or clicking the link under the Login button – “First Visit? Please register an account<\/em>“.<\/p>\n We also have a “How to activate an accommodation account<\/a>” video which guides you through the process.<\/p>\n What information do I need to register an account?<\/strong> What is the accommodation guarantee?<\/strong> Do you process applications on a first come, first served basis?<\/strong> You can also take a look at our Room Allocation<\/a> procedure to find out more about what the Accommodation Office do and do not take into consideration when allocating rooms to students.<\/p>\n What can I do in preparation for making my application?<\/strong> If you are considering self-catered accommodation then we mentioned in last week’s blog<\/a> about the ongoing essential repairs and maintenance programme and campus developments which will affect some of our on-campus residences. We recommend you refer to our dedicated webpage<\/a> to understand more about these works prior to making your application.<\/p>\n Applying for accommodation<\/strong> Undergraduate students are able to give four preferences of residence in their application, while postgraduate students can give three preferences.<\/p>\n As part of the application process you will be asked to indicate some additional accommodation preferences, such as the age group you would prefer living with, and whether you would like to live with students who prefer a quieter lifestyle or an alcohol-free lifestyle. While we can\u2019t guarantee to be able to meet these requests, it does help us to group students together.<\/p>\n We also ask you to tell us about your hobbies and interests so that we can match you with students who have expressed similar interests on their applications. You will be asked to select up to four interests from a list of examples. It is really important that these accurately reflect what you <\/em>enjoy doing, so if you are entrusting someone else to apply on your behalf then make sure they know your<\/em> interests well!<\/p>\n When we are allocating rooms, we do take into consideration the above preferences and read any notes that you make on your application. Further information about this can be found in our Room Allocation Procedure<\/a>.<\/p>\n Please note<\/strong> – if you have been sent an offer to study at our Penryn (Cornwall) campus then you will need to apply via their own booking system. \nApplications for 2020\/21 will open from 9:00am on Monday 6 April 2020<\/strong>. Please do not attempt to apply before 9:00am as the relevant application options for New Undergraduate<\/strong> or New Postgraduate<\/strong> will not be live. If you use an incorrect option then your application is likely to be rejected and you will need to re-apply.<\/p>\n
\nIf you are a prospective student joining us from September 2020 and have firmly accepted an offer to study on a 2020\/21 course then you will be able to register an accommodation account<\/a> ahead of the applications opening. This account will be where you need to go to make your application, view your offer of accommodation and confirm your acceptance, so it is worth adding the link to your internet Favourites.<\/p>\n
\nIn order to set up an accommodation account you will need the following:<\/p>\n\n
\nPlease familiarise yourself with our accommodation guarantee<\/a> to find out whether you will be eligible. If you are covered by our guarantee then you must ensure that you apply by our guarantee deadline of Friday 31 July 2020. Our guarantee is that an offer of accommodation will be made to you, and we discussed a little more about preferences of accommodation in last Tuesday’s blog<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n
\nIt depends what type of applicant you are.<\/p>\n\n
\nBetween now and our accommodation applications opening, we recommend that you look at our catered<\/a> and self-catered<\/a> residence pages for specific information on each of our residences. This will help you decide on which 4 residences you want to put as your preferences on your online application. We also have self-catered<\/a> and catered<\/a> accommodation videos available to view, in which students give you an insight into the choice of accommodation they made.<\/p>\n
\nOnce you are ready and applications have opened, log in<\/a> to your Accommodation Account and work through the stages.
