Good morning all!
\nFor those of you who will be leaving home for the first time in September, the idea of moving to University can be rather daunting. However, please do not worry as we have plenty of support available for you to keep you well and safe in your new home.<\/p>\n

Security<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Whilst Exeter is generally a very safe city, it is important to know that in the unlikely event that you find yourself in need of help, we are there for you! All of our campuses have 24-hour security available 365 days a year.\u00a0Estate Patrol<\/a>\u00a0look after both campuses and in all university owned, managed and nominated accommodation, they\u2019re here to ensure that you are in a safe and secure environment and are ready to help in any emergency situations.<\/p>\n

They can also be contacted to deal with anti-social behaviour and noise complaints, lock-outs and emergency maintenance issues outside of office hours. In the event of an emergency, we would still recommend that you contact 999 in the first instance.<\/p>\n

Residence Life Team<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We also have our\u00a0residence life team<\/a>\u00a0who have an in-depth knowledge of the support and wellbeing services on offer to provide support to students living in University accommodation. Every student living in our accommodation is assigned a Residence Life Mentor who has experience of student life.<\/p>\n

Overnight, members of the Residence Life Night Patrol support security by visiting residences. Two full-time Residence Life Advisors lead the Residence Life Teams and are involved with student welfare across all the residences.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re in private accommodation you will still have full access to the University\u2019s welfare support\u00a0and\u00a0will have the support of\u00a0our\u00a0Student community wardens<\/a>\u00a0who\u00a0provide information and guidance for students living and socialising off-campus.<\/p>\n

Healthcare<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We also recommend that you register with a GP For those studying on the Streatham Campus then we recommend you look to our very own NHS\u00a0Student Health Centre<\/a>\u00a0which is located on campus. You can\u00a0register online<\/a>\u00a0before you arrive.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ll be based at St Lukes then we recommend registering with the\u00a0Heavitree Practice<\/a>. There are pharmacies across the city as well as a\u00a0walk-in centre<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Royal Devon and Exeter hospital<\/a>, which is only 15 minutes walk from St Lukes campus.<\/p>\n

Wellbeing Services<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Your mental health at University is incredibly important to look after. Our\u00a0wellbeing centre<\/a>, based on the Streatham campus provides counselling and other psychological therapies to support students with mental health issues both long and short term.<\/p>\n

The Accessability team are here to provide support to students with a disability or long-term health condition. This includes specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia. We want to ensure that all our students are given an equal chance to excel in their studies and to ensure that nobody feels that they are at a disadvantage due because of a condition.<\/p>\n
