Hello everyone! It\u2019s probably been a few weeks since you arrived here at University and hopefully you\u2019re beginning to find your way around. While it might not be on the top of your list of things to do, being well-informed about the safety and security support around you can be a good move as you settle in.<\/p>\n

Security support<\/strong><\/p>\n

Estate Patrol<\/a> are the University campus security team and are committed to working with students to provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for everyone.\u00a0They work alongside local authorities and emergency service partners to provide safety and security advice. The team are available 24\/7 and conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols.<\/p>\n

Some of the help the Estate Patrol team provide includes advice about personal safety and property security, First Aid and welfare support. They can also help with things like getting you back into your room if you are accidentally locked out. They\u2019re a friendly team who can be easily spotted in their red uniforms, so why not say \u2018hi\u2019 the next time you see them?<\/p>\n

Safety Toolkit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Make the most of the safety tools available to you whilst here at Exeter, most of them free of charge:<\/p>\n

SafeZone App<\/a> – Provides a quick and easy way for you to alert Estate Patrol if you ever need advice or urgent help when on campus. Plus there is now a new Wellbeing button to signpost you to the right support for you.<\/p>\n

Safer Walking Routes<\/a> – Dedicated footpaths in and around both St Luke\u2019s and Streatham campuses with enhanced lighting and coverage by the University CCTV cameras. Keep an eye out for the floor and lamppost signs that mark out the routes.<\/p>\n

Night Bus<\/a> \u2013 Get home safe after a night out with the Night Bus Service in conjunction with Stagecoach. The service runs every Wednesday, Thursday Friday and Saturday evening until 4am between the city and the Streatham campus.<\/p>\n

Campus Safety Guide<\/a> \u2013 An invaluable guide packed with lots of information about safety not just on campus, but also some great tips to consider when you are out and about, personal safety and securing your property.<\/p>\n

Welfare support <\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Residence Life Team<\/a> have an in-depth knowledge of the support and wellbeing services available to students living in University residences. Their team of peer-support Residence Life Mentors visit residences throughout the year and they also run a programme of social events to help build a positive community within the residences.<\/p>\n

Wellbeing Team<\/strong><\/p>\n

Your mental health at University is incredibly important to look after. The Wellbeing Team offer a whole range of services to support students\u2019 wellbeing, both long and short term. Take a look at their website<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n

Healthcare<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t already, we recommend that you register with a GP just in case you need to see someone while you are here at University.<\/p>\n
