…gently down the stream, if you see the sun come out, you’re having a dream! I’m only kidding…the sun does come out sometimes, it’s just on holiday at the moment – a very long one! (Thanks to Nicola Baker for this weeks blog title – how apt!)

Hopefully you are all staying safe in the strong winds and finding suitable dry spots in the down pours. We certainly felt the presence of the rain last Wednesday at our first Offer Holder Visit Day with potential students and their parents huddled under umbrellas and rather soggy newspapers whilst wandering around campus. I think the arrival of a campus canoe wouldn’t go amiss to transport those from the top of Stocker Road to the bottom. Now where is that suggestion box…?

The Offer Holder Visit Days are taking place every Wednesday throughout February and March. If you’re a current student, you can probably remember what these were like so please make sure you offer support or advice to any potential students if needed. Those of you who are visiting us for the first time then welcome to the University of Exeter! We have informative accommodation talks taking place in The Forum of our Streatham campus at: 10:45, 13:00, 15:00 and 15:30 and one taking place at St Lukes at 12:45pm. Come and see us at the accommodation stand (see the picture below) where we will be on hand to answer any further questions you may have and provide you with the 2014/15 accommodation booklet and residence fees. We look forward to seeing you there.

Next week (17-21 February 2014), across the Streatham Campus we have a range of fun activities taking place to raise awareness as part of the ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing Week‘ which is a national campaign providing an opportunity for all those who work or study in Higher Education to ‘take stock’ and think about things theycan do to promote their mental health and wellbeing, as well as helping to end mental health discrimination.

If your New Years Resolutions have gone astray then start again in February by taking part in many free active events including: Zumba, Aerobics, Bodyblast and Ab Attack sessions. If you fancy something a little less strenuous and more relaxing then there are also yoga and tai chi sessions including laughter yoga which certainly sounds like my kind of exercise. Make sure you visit theĀ Mental Health Awareness and Wellbeing Fair on Tuesday 18 February for a variety of taster sessions including: massage, aromatherapy, homeopathy, meditation and so much more. For further informationĀ  check out the timetable of events to see what’s on.
