…be our guest! Put our service to the test, tie your napkin ’round your neck, cherie and we’ll provide the rest! We are pleased to be able to offer bed and breakfast accommodation within Birks Grange Village and Holland Hall to any affiliates of the University of Exeter. This could be anyone from a visiting lecturer or researcher to guests of students. We have availability until Friday 13 June 2014, so if this is something you’re interested in, make sure you visit our website for further information.

I do like that I have opened this weeks blog post with a song from Walt Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. It is one of my absolute favourites, however, if Disney is not your thing and you’re more of a Star Wars fan, then you are in luck! True Star Wars fans will know that this Sunday (4 May) is unofficially known as Star Wars Day (may the fourth be with you etc). Our catered halls will be celebrating this event once again by putting a Star Wars twist on some of the dishes and the catered halls will look good enough for even Luke Skywalker and Yoda to want to join the fun. If you’re in self-catered accommodation, you don’t need to miss out on this event, please visit the catered halls webpage for further information.

So now that you are all back after Easter, there are many exciting events happening on campus over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled on the Students’ Guild website to see what is happening. The Sports Park have updated their term three fitness timetables and if you’re looking for ways to burn off those one too many Easter eggs, then visit their site for details on new classes and times.

One of the big events happening this year is Exeter Pride which returns for it’s sixth year and the University of Exeter is once again proud to officially sponsor. Exeter Pride 2014 will take place in Exeter city centre on Saturday 10 May but we have our ‘Pride on Campus’ event taking place on Tuesday 6 May where for the week the 50 metre rainbow flag used in the Pride parade will be displayed in the Forum-go and check it out and show your support. For further information on events and to see what is happening near you, please visit the our website.

I will leave you all this week with a picture of our Bug Hotel ‘The Millipede Chapter’ which The Green Belters (for Green Impact) constructed last week. It is located on the grass close to the Birks Grange Village Central Reception, so if you have a spare five minutes, go and take a look and see what bugs and wildlife are visiting. If this is something that interests you and you’re interested in sustainability or biodiversity then please get in touch with the Student Green Unit to see what they do and see how you can get involved.
