OK, well it’s not Inspector Gadget that will be doing your room inspections but instead it will be our lovely Residences staff. If any of them do however, decide to inspect your room in a trench coat, hat and sunglasses whilst flying in through your window, do let me know immediately (purely for amusement purposes!) As I have mentioned in the last few weeks, it is that time of year when students are moving out of their accommodation and room inspections need to be booked in. Please refer to our moving out guide for further information on how this is done.

Please note that if you are currently living at Lafrowda, St German’s, Rowe House, Birks Grange Village (self-catered) or Duryard then room inspections can take place Monday-Friday between 9am-4pm. The reception at both of our UPP sites are open between 8am-8pm Monday to Friday. If you need to return a key outside of office hours then they can be returned to secured boxes inside the laundry rooms in L block of Lafrowda, H block of Birks Grange Village, and in the communal area in Teign House at Duryard. If you have any further information about room inspections or moving out, please contact your residence reception or the Accommodation Office.

Those of you who have collected a hoard of general ‘stuff’ which was once useful to you but now rather unwanted, then why not think about donating your items to the Student Reuse Project? This year, items will be given to the British Heart Foundation for them to sell within local charity shops. If you require more information, take a look at the following article and webpages to see how you can donate.

If you are looking for accommodation over the summer, please note that the application deadline is Thursday 5 June 2014. Applications received after this date may be placed on a waiting list subject to availability. For further information on how to apply, please visit our website.

Are you a resident of Holland Hall or Birks Grange or even fancy a wander near by? This Friday 30 May the chefs from these two residences will be cooking and supplying cakes for a charity bake sale in aid of Hospiscare with staff volunteers manning the stalls between 9:00am-2:00pm. Make sure you wander by and take some pennies with you… surely the walk itself will allow you a nice nibble of cake? For more information please see the Bake Sale poster.

If you’re at a loose end after exams and fancy a fun way to meet new people then come along on Tuesday 3 June between 12-2pm and join us for The Big Lunch. This event is being run by The Chaplaincy Team and will be held on the North Piazza outside The Forum. If it’s raining (well, this is England) then we will head to The Forum and feast indoors – hoorah! The event will have music and fresh food available from our very own Community Garden. It provides the perfect opportunity to relax after your exams, get away from your desk and meet some lovely new people. Bring yourself, your friends, your smile and some food to share if you wish. We look forward to seeing you there.

Don’t forget if you have any accommodation queries, then you can visit a member of the Accommodation Office at our drop-in sessions between 12:00pm-2:00pm Monday to Friday in The Forum. You will need to sign in at the Student Information Desk upon arrival.
