The soul legend that was Ray Charles has provided the inspiration for today’s blog title because it’s loosely linked to travel which is something you’ll all be doing in September as you embark upon your University of Exeter adventure. Leading on from this, we have had a number of you asking about Arrivals Weekend and when you can book your arrival slot. If you have accepted your offer and paid your accommodation deposit, you will be sent an email advising you that from next Wednesday (27 August) we will be starting to notify people (block by block) as to when they can login to their accommodation account to book their arrival slot.
Those of you who have a confirmed status are able to complete the eInduction online. We have had a number of enquiries from people asking if this is a ‘test’ and how they know whether they have passed…well lucky for you, there are no exams or tests involved. As long as you have looked through each page and have ended on the ‘Thank You’ page, that is all that is required.
If you are a returning student or a postgraduate student (who has experience of living at University) and would like to be guaranteed University of Exeter accommodation. Have you thought about applying to be a Residence Life Team Mentor?
Are you friendly, approachable and ready to help others? Being part of the team can be a great way to develop your skills, enhance your CV and meet new people. In return, you’d receive full training and a rent discount on your University accommodation. Please see our website for the job description and to download an application form.
Finally our baketition entry yesterday was brought to us by Jess who made not one, but two incredible cheesecakes. Don’t worry we’ve already gone through the Peter Kay sketch of “Cheese…cake? A cake of cheese?” She made both a banoffee and an oreo cheesecake and they were seriously scrummy because obviously I had to try a small slither of each for blog purposes only – of course! [Mantra to myself during this baketition: ‘must use my gym membership…must use my gym membership’].
Just at the time of Jess handing these out to us, the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate the building – uh oh! Thankfully there was no fire and we were soon allowed back but I had to photograph both Kerry and Grace from the Comms Team who could not part with treat of the day and took it with them upon evacuation. Priorities!!
