WELCOME TO OUR NEW STUDENTS ARRIVING TODAY, TOMORROW AND SUNDAY! We hope you settle in and enjoy your first few days with us. Please refer to yesterday’s blog about what to expect this weekend and to see what exciting events are available to you not only for this weekend but for Freshers’ Week too. Make sure you keep your eyes on the maps which will provide you with the locations of all our residences. So there is no excuse to get lost, if you do, then there are plenty of people in bright pink t-shirts to point you in the right direction.

If you have contacted us over the summer about moving rooms or changing residence, were put on our pre-arrival waiting list and have not been contacted, this is because no rooms have become available due to our residences being so popular this year. The pre-arrival waiting list will now cease to exist as many of you who expressed a wish to move before settling into your residence decide soon after coming that you no longer wish to move. So, if you do still wish to move rooms, you will now need to submit a ‘Request to Move’ form via the Student Information Desk (SID).

Those of you who put in a request via SID will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your ‘Request to Move’ form. However, it may be at least 2 weeks before there is any indication of progress being made, as not all of our residents arrive for Freshers’ Week and although rooms in your corridor or flat may appear to be empty, they will be allocated to a student and we are just waiting for them to arrive.

Give your room and residence a chance, allow yourselves time to settle in and meet other residents. We will have tried to placed you within a residence with people who share similar interests to you, so hopefully, you will all have something to talk about and you will meet friends for life in there. For more information on this please look at the fantastic ‘be prepared‘ blog post guest written by Residence Life Helen where she provides you all with some useful hints and tips on surviving the first few weeks.

If you have any questions about accommodation then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us on 0300 555 0444 or sid@exeter.ac.uk.

Today, we say a fond farewell to Andrew who is one of our final remaining two temporary staff. Andrew has been great to work with and has been keeping us all refreshed with his tea making skills, entertaining us with his colourful socks and enlightening us on his times at school. Thank you very much to Andrew for all of his hard work and may we wish you every success with the remainder of your course.
