On my walk in to work this morning whilst passing a section of private housing (which is mostly occupied by students), I could tell that we are nearing the end of term because of all the rubbish bags which were sitting ready for collection. Many had ‘Students on the Move’ labels attached to them which is a scheme put in place for students who are able to donate items to charity or arrange for collection of their items. This Friday marks the end of term for many of our undergraduate students and as I mentioned last week, you will now be in preparation for moving out of your accommodation and heading home. Students living within our catered halls need to vacate their accommodation on Saturday 13 June 2015 and those within our 40 week self-catered residences on Saturday 20 June 2015. Please ensure that you all book a room inspection prior to your departure and read the moving out guide for information on how to leave your room. Keys must be returned to your residence reception by no later than 10:00am on your departure date.
This time last year we posted a useful blogpost providing useful hints and tips about moving out and also what to do in the local area if you are wishing to stay in Exeter for a few more weeks. To save me time in writing it all out again, I definitely recommend that you all check it out to see what things are going on and what exciting places you can all visit whilst here.
The Accommodation Office SID drop-in sessions are only available running on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 June between 12:00pm-2:00pm. After this date, we will not be holding our drop-in sessions until 14 September 2015. If you need to speak to the Accommodation Office then you are able to contact us by telephoning SID on 0300 555 0444 or emailing us at sid@exeter.ac.uk. If you would prefer to speak to us in person then please pop down to SID between 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday and we will be available to see you.
We are not in the office today because we are away on our Community Challenge Day at Hannah’s at Seale-Hayne. Can you remember the donkey sanctuary selfie of last year? This year, we are all taking part in various activities from gardening to painting to helping out with their school radio. We shall pop some pictures up of our experiences for you all to peruse next week.
Now on a final note, you may remember the Tin Can Christmas Tree which we created at the end of last year. Well, on Tuesday both Nicola Baker and I headed to the Green Impact Awards to see how we did and we are pleased to announce that the Accommodation Office along with the Green Belters Team won a Green Impact ‘Excellence Award’ for our hard work. Thank you to those of you who submitted your feedback through our survey, it was very much appreciated. Now we just need to think of next year’s challenge….
