We are nearing the end of October which means that not only are the dark nights and dark mornings upon us but also some of you will be thinking about housing for next year and moving out over Christmas. There are also many events coming up due to Halloween and Bonfire Night. See below for information:

Offer Holder Visit Day
There is an offer holder visit day taking place t0day on campus which will mean that the campus is busier than normal. We are not showing any accommodation and therefore if any visitors ask you about accommodation then please advise them to take a look at our virtual tours which are available online and also our accommodation videos.

Housing for next year
Are you concerned about housing for next year? Maybe you have heard rumours that other students have started signing contracts already. On Monday 2 November between 6:30pm-8:00pm the Students’ Guild are holding a Housing Information Evening within The Forum Street which will provide you with lots of useful advice about housing after your first year.

Moving out of catered halls at Christmas
We have received some enquiries from students living within catered halls wanting to know if they need to remove their belongings over the Christmas vacation. This does vary from residence to residence, so we would recommend that you ask your residence reception directly to find this information out.

Halloween and Bonfire Night events
If you are currently living within catered halls then there will be a themed Halloween event on Saturday 31 October. If you are a visitor or are living in self catered residences you are more than welcome to join in with this themed event by purchasing a guest voucher (valid on the day of purchase only) for £6.75 from the Reception before the meal available at one of our Catered Halls. You will need to hand in the receipt at the servery.

Once you have filled up on a scrumptious meal within catered halls, why not head to ‘Halloween at the Lemmy’ which is also taking place this Saturday from 9:00pm tickets are £4.00 and can be purchased via the Students’ Guild webpages.

There are a number of local firework displays taking place over the next few weeks. To see what is going on in and around Exeter, take a look at the Heart of Devon events pages for further information.

What with Halloween and Bonfire Night taking place, can you please all be extra vigilant about fire safety. For example, if you decide to carve pumpkins, please do not place candles in them because this is not permitted within your residences. For further information please read your Residents Handbook or take a look at our fire safety video.
