Applications for accommodation opened on Monday 11 April and this week’s blog is looking into everything you need to know about creating an application for accommodation. We have updated a number of our webpages in the last week and recommend that you visit the following pages before submitting your application:

The Accommodation Guarantee
Undergraduate student applications are not dealt with on a first come, first served basis for students applying under our guarantee. Postgraduate applications are dealt with on a first come, first served basis. Please see the Accommodation Guarantee for further information.

When to apply
The ‘When to apply‘ pages on the website provide you with information on the different application types and when you should apply for accommodation. It also advises you on when you are likely to receive an offer of accommodation.

How to apply
Our ‘How to apply‘ pages on the website give advice on what you should think about and consider prior to submitting an application for accommodation. It also provides information on students who may require medical support or for students who have deferred their place or are thinking of deferring their place.

How to activate an accommodation account and apply for accommodation
We have created two videos which provide a step by step process on ‘how to activate an accommodation account’ and ‘how to submit an application for accommodation’. We strongly recommend that these are viewed prior to creating your application for accommodation. Please see the links below:

How do you allocate rooms?
Please visit our ‘Room allocation procedure‘ webpages for information on how we allocate students to rooms/residences based on the information they provide within their application forms. It also details the additional preferences which are listed on the application form to help us match you to the most suitable flat.

Do I have to stay in University of Exeter accommodation?
Students are not required to stay in University accommodation at any point whilst they are studying with us. If you wish to look for private housing within the city then I would recommend that you look at the following webpages for help and advice on where to look:

  • Student housing – offers advice on where to look
  • Living in the city – offers information on what support is available for students living within private housing
  • Studentpad – the University of Exeter student search engine for accommodation

How can we contact you?
If you need any support with your application or have any queries about accommodation then the Accommodation Office can be contacted in the following ways:

  • Telephone – 0300 555 0444

The hours of the Accommodation Office are between 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Next week’s blog will look into your frequently asked questions and we will be troubleshooting any application queries.
