Many students are asking questions via social media in relation to the contract length and fees. Today’s blog is going to update you on all things contractual:
What are the accommodation contract length dates?
Students within self-catered residences are able to remain in their accommodation for the full length of the contract. Students living within our catered accommodation then please note the contract length is ‘term time’ only and students are required to vacate for the Christmas and Easter vacation. Belongings can stay in the room at Christmas but at Easter, in some residences which will be confirmed nearer the time, some residences require students to vacate and take their belongings with them. There are different contract lengths attached to different residences, so please ensure you check our website before completing your application. The contract lengths are:
- 32 weeks – available from Sunday 17 September 2017 until Saturday 16 June 2018 – see our website for vacation dates.
- 40 weeks – available from Sunday 17 September 2017 until Saturday 23 June 2018*
- 42 weeks – available from Sunday 17 September 2017 until Saturday 7 July 2018
- 44 weeks – available from Sunday 17 September 2017 until Saturday 21 July 2018
- 5O weeks – available from Sunday 17 September 2017 until Friday 31 August 2018 (available in postgraduate residences)
- 51 weeks – available from Sunday 17 September 2017 until Saturday 8 September 2018 (available in postgraduate residences)
Please remember that although contracts start on 17 September, students are able to arrive for our Arrivals Weekend at various points over 15-17 September.
*This may date vary in some nominated residences, please check your contract.
What are the accommodation fees for Residences whose contracts are issued by the University ?
Your accommodation fees are shown within your accommodation account and are available when you accept your offer. The accommodation fee is paid in three termly instalments and are due at the beginning of the academic year in full, or on the following instalment dates:
- Autumn Term (Term 1) – 9 October 2017
- Spring Term (Term 2) – 15 January 2018
- Summer Term (Term 3) – 7 May 2018
- Vacation (Term 4 – 51 week contracts only) – 25 June 2018

What are the accommodation fees for Residences whose contracts are issued by one of our partners?
Please note that students who are allocated to one of our nominated residences will receive their accommodation fee information from that residence directly. Please see the ‘other’ tab within our residence reception webpage for contact information.
