It’s December tomorrow which means that blogs over the next few weeks will be in relation to Christmas and we’re starting today. We are looking at the various Christmas events taking place on campus over the next few weeks and providing some information about moving out of your catered room over the Christmas vacation.

Christmas meal in catered halls
On Thursday 7 December between 5:30-7:30pm our catered halls will be serving their two-course Christmas meal. There is no charge for catered residences, however, if any students living within a self-catered residence wish to take part then there is a cost of £6.92 which is payable at a catered reception (Exeter Halls, Birks Grange or Holland Hall). You are able to bring your own alcoholic or soft drink.

The main meal includes: A turkey parcel with pig in blanket, sage infused turkey jus and cranberry sauce or a Christmas root vegetable Wellington with a rich vegetarian gravy, served with all the trimmings.

Dessert choices are: Christmas pudding with creamy rum sauce or white chocolate fudge cake or mince pies and clotted cream or a selection of cheeses with biscuits.

On Campus on Christmas Day?
If you are remaining on campus on Christmas Day then why not come along to Lopes Hall to celebrate with us. This event starts at 12.30pm on 25 December and you will be welcomed with mulled wine or a soft drink on arrival, followed by a traditional two-course Christmas lunch served at 1:00pm.

Included will be plenty of festive fun and games, including a visit from Santa with a gift for everyone attending. Tickets are priced at £15:00 (£5:00 for children aged 8 and under) and are available via the online store – please book your place(s) by 12:00pm on Friday 15 December.

Moving out of catered halls for the Christmas vacation
Students living within our catered halls are required to vacate their accommodation at 10:00am on Saturday 16 December. We will provide further information about this in next week’s blog but strongly encourage you to read the information on our website about this period. Please note that if you require self-catered accommodation during this period then we can offer rooms either on/off campus for a minimum contract length of three weeks. Please contact the Accommodation Office for information or pop along to our drop-in session in the Forum between 10:00am-4:00pm Monday to Friday via the SID desk.
