This week we are looking at catered accommodation. Please note that our 2018/19 rents will be updated on our website by the end of January 2018.

Where is your accommodation based?
At the University of Exeter please note that 70% of our accommodation is located on campus and 30% is located off campus. By being off campus, this usually means that you are within a 20-25 minute walk to the centre of the Streatham Campus. Take a look at our walking distance map shown to see where our different residences are located. (Click on it to see it in a larger format).

Catered Accommodation
Catered accommodation is located on the Streatham Campus only and is available to our undergraduate students. It is intended for students who would prefer their first year at university to be spent more on settling in, socialising and working andh less time being spent on cooking, washing up or and doing a food shop. If this sounds like something you’re interested, then catered accommodation might be for you. Take a look at our catered accommodation webpages to see the different catered residences and rooms available.

What does the rent include?
The rent for catered halls includes sixteen meals per week at set meal times within your residences dining hall, which is made up of breakfast and an evening meal (Monday to Friday) and a continental breakfast, brunch and evening meal (weekends). Students are given access to a utility area and are provided with a mini fridge within their room in order to make lunches and snacks. Take a look at our ‘about catered halls‘ webpage to see the menus our students are currently enjoying, what times meals are served and a look at the Catered Accommodation Guide.

How long is the contract?
The contract for all catered halls is 32 weeks. The dates for 2018/19 are from Sunday 16 September 2018 – Saturday 22 June 2019. Catered students are required to vacate at both the Christmas and Easter vacation periods and in some instances belongings need to be cleared from the rooms during these times also. If a student needs to stay on campus during the vacation periods then a self-catered room may be available for the duration. Please note that if you are are unable to move out during the vacation periods or are unable to return home then we are highly likely to have self-catered accommodation available for you to move into during this time.

Important date for your diary – please note that applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate students will open on Monday 9 April 2018 from 10:00am.

Next week we will be looking at self-catered accommodation.
