This week we are looking at returning student’s accommodation options in both the city centre and on-campus. If you haven’t found a room/house yet for next year then there are ways to be notified of availability:

Accommodation in the city for returning students
There are still a number of properties available on Studentpad or within larger purpose-built accommodation in the city centre. Landlords and letting agents are regularly adding properties to the site and in order to not miss out on these new listings why not register for property alerts? This can be done by following these instructions:

  1. Visit www.exeterstudentpad.co.uk
  2. Click on ‘My Studentpad‘ at the top of the page
  3. Login or register your details
  4. Click on the option marked ‘Property Alerts’.
  5. Click on ‘New Alerts’ in order to enter the number of bedrooms, areas and type of property that you are looking for. You can also choose how often you would like to be notified.

You will then receive an email advising you of any newly listed adverts which have been added to the website since your last property alert.

As well as this there are still some private purpose-built providers in the city with rooms available. These can be found on our website under ā€˜private accommodation optionsā€™ as well as useful advice. Remember that once you have found a room/property the Studentsā€™ Guild Advice Unit can check any accommodation contracts for you, for free.

Returning to on campus accommodation
Applications opened on Monday 29 January for students returning for the 2018/19 academic year who require adapted accommodation or a particular location in line with the Equality Act 2010 due to a disability, a long-term medical condition or sensory or physical impairment. Prices are now available on our website for both self-catered and catered residences

In order to be considered for returners accommodation you will need to speak to one of the below support services and we will need to have received support from them in order to proceed with your application:

Please submit your application for returners accommodation by Friday 16 February. We will be reviewing applications from Monday 19 February, so please ensure that you have spoken with a support service by this date.

Students’ Guild elections
Launch Week for new Sabbatical Officer (Sabbs) elections take place from Monday 5 February. Make sure you have your say and vote for who you want to represent you. Take a look at the Guild website for further information.

Next week we will be letting you know what our catered halls will be doing to celebrate Chinese New Year – the Year of the Dog.
