There’s only one more week left of term, so we are providing you with as much information as possible about the vacation period. We have also had a few students looking for accommodation for September 2018 so take a look for some advice on where to look:
Easter vacation – moving out
If you are living in our catered halls, you are required to vacate your residence by 10:00am on Saturday 31 March. The last meal available before you depart from your accommodation will be breakfast served between 8.00am-9:30am. You are able to return to your residence from 10:00am on Sunday 29 April and the first meal available when you’re back will be the weekend brunch between 12:00pm-1:30pm. Please see our website for further information.
If you require a self-catered room during the vacation period for the dates of 31 March – 29 April then please visit our Accommodation drop-in within the Forum. We are available between 11:00am-3:00pm Monday to Friday. Alternatively you can send an enquiry via SID.
Further information and advice is available on our website.
Who can I contact over Easter?
The Accommodation drop-in sessions in the Forum will run between 11:00am-3:00pm Monday to Friday with our last session for Term 2 being on Thursday 29 March. Outside of these times, you can contact us via SID.
Our residence reception webpages have been updated to include their times of availability over Easter.
Looking for private housing for September?
If you are still looking for accommodation in the city for September then there are still plenty of options available. We strongly recommend that you look at the advice and information on our webpage to see what types of things are available and to regularly check Studentpad which is a free, accommodation search portal. Options available include:
- Purpose-built private halls of residence
- Shared houses and flats
- Properties through private individual landlords
- Properties through student letting agencies
- Living with a resident landlord/host family – this is sometimes referred to as ‘lodgings’
We also offer advice on the Right to Rent checks which landlords will undertake as well as providing a useful Housing Terminology document for you to know the typical jargon used.
Clocks spring forward
Don’t forget that at 1:00am on Sunday 25 March the clocks go forward an hour. We recommend that before you go to bed on Saturday you make sure you have changed the time on all of your clocks and/or watches to stop you running late for any lectures on Monday.
Next week we will be providing information on Summer Accommodation.
