Applications for accommodation for 2018/19 opened on Monday 9 April and our blog this week is providing you with information on everything you need to know about submitting an application:

Please allow 2-3 working days since your university course offer was made firm for this to update on the Accommodation system. This means that you will not be able to apply for accommodation instantly.

The Accommodation Guarantee and Insurance Students
As we mentioned last week, full year undergraduate student applications are not dealt with on a first come, first serve basis for students applying within our Accommodation Guarantee (9 April – 31 July 2018). Postgraduate applications are dealt with on a first come, first served basis and therefore early application is advisable.

If the University of Exeter is your insurance or clearing choice or you have received a place through adjustment, you are able to apply for accommodation once your university offer is confirmed. This is likely to be from 1 August onwards which is after our guarantee deadline date. Take a look at our dedicated webpage for further information about this.

Activating an accommodation account
Before you can apply for accommodation, you need to activate an accommodation account. Please ensure you have your nine digit student ID number ready. This is likely to start with a ’67’ or ’68’. It is also known as a ‘University of Exeter Reference Number’ and will be found on your university offer letter.  You will not be able to activate an accommodation account using your UCAS ID number.

How to videos
Our two ‘how to’ videos provide a useful step by step guide on ‘how to activate an accommodation account’ and ‘how to submit an application for accommodation’. We strongly recommend that these are viewed prior to creating your application for accommodation. If you are experiencing any issues with your application then do take a look at these videos which may help to rectify your problem. Please see the links below:

I haven’t received my validation code yet?
Due to the high volumes of traffic our Accommodation system has been receiving recently, there is a delay of up to an hour for your validation code being sent through. Please ensure that prior to applying you add ‘sid@exeter.ac.uk’ to your contacts list within your email. To find this email please check your Junk/SPAM folder. If after a couple of hours, this has still not been received, please contact us.

2018/19 Contractual information
We have reviewed our contracts for 2018/19 and the contractual information in relation to next academic year can be found on our website. Please note that our Arrivals Weekend for 2018/19 is 14-16 September and Freshers’ Week starts from 17 September. Your accommodation fee includes you arriving over the Arrivals Weekend.

Next week’s blog will look into your frequently asked questions and we will be troubleshooting any application queries.
