This week’s blog will take a look at the Residence Life Team events running during October – these are aimed at helping you to meet new people, have new experiences, and make the most of living in the South West. Take a look at what’s available:

Bingo Nights – October
“Eyes down for a full house”. At the time of this blog going live there are two Bingo events taking place next week. It’s a free event and there are plenty of prizes to be won! What more could you want? Events are taking place at the following dates on the following locations:

  • Birks Grange Village (Central Block social space) – Monday 15 October at 7:00pm.
  • Mardon Hall (social space) – Wednesday 17 October at 7:00pm.

You will need to reserve your ticket on our online store to take place.

Quiz Night – 22 October
Our first quiz of the year took place last night at Holland Hall and the next one will take place for residents of James Owen Court, Nancherrow and Rowancroft at St Lukes. These are always extremely popular as they are free to take part and snacks and drinks will be provided along with many prizes to be won. The next one takes place:

  • Monday 22 October – St Luke’s Crosskeys at 7.00pm.

Exeter City Football match – 27 October
Exeter City Football Club play in League Two and will be playing against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday 27 October with a 3:00pm kick off. Tickets are just £7.50 including a pint and a pasty – book on our online store.

Pumpkin Carving competition – Wednesday 31 October
Halloween is creeping upon us and with Halloween comes pumpkins! Are you good at creating spook-tacular pumpkin carvings? Why not join and bring your carved pumpkin to the Forum Piazza between 4:00pm-5:00pm on Wednesday 31 October for judging. There are plenty of prizes to be won including a £50.00 Amazon Gift Voucher for first prize. Reserve your spot in the contest on our online store.

Great West Run road closures – Sunday 14 October
We have informed you about the events we have taking place this month but also in Exeter, on Sunday 14 October, thousands of runners will take part in the ‘Great West Run‘. Seeing as it takes place on the roads of Exeter it means that certain routes will be closed to all vehicles from 6:00am.

The roads shown below are closest to the university and many of our residences. They will be closed at 6:00am and will begin to re-open at the following times:

  • Sidwell Street to High Street reopens at 9:45am
  • Stoke Road to Cowley Bridge Road reopens at 11:45am
  • New North Road to Prince of Wales Road reopens at 12:00pm
  • Union Road reopens at 12:15pm
  • Old Tiverton Road reopens at 12:30pm
  • Blackboy Road to Pinhoe Road reopens at 12:45pm

All routes will be opened fully at 1:00pm.
