We hope you have enjoyed the lovely long Bank Holiday weekend! Our Open Days are nearly here! They are taking place on Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June. Today’s blog is all about what you can expect from the Open Days and what the Accommodation team have planned for you.Â
Accommodation Information
Staff from the Accommodation Office and University of Exeter residences will be available on hand between 9:30am-4:00pm at the Streatham campus and 9:30am-3:30pm at St Luke’s campus. Please do pop by and say âhelloâ, ask a question or collect a copy of our Accommodation Guide at any point. Student Ambassadors will also be dotted around the area on both days and can provide help at any time. You canât miss them, they will be wearing yellow âAsk meâ t-shirts. The Accommodation Office will be available in the following areas on both days:
- St Luke’s â In a marquee on the centre of campus in front of the Cross Keys cafe.
- Streatham Campus (inside) â The Forum in seminar rooms 1-3. Please come through the main entrance to the Forum with the SID desk on your right and library entrance on your left. Keep heading through to the back left corner, and follow along through to a group of seminar rooms. The Accommodation Exhibition and videos will be here.
- Streatham Campus (outside) â Members of the Accommodation Office will be located in a gazebo next to Cornwall House on the route to Lafrowda and Exeter Halls.
Please see our campus maps for further information on where to find us.
Accommodation Viewings
We are showing examples of accommodation at the Open Days on both Friday and Saturday. The viewings will take place between 10:00am -3:45pm (Streatham) and 10:00am-3:00pm (St Lukes). We will be showing the following residences:
- Exeter Halls (standard twin/single, en-suite rooms and the dining hall) â catered
- Lafrowda* (standard, en-suite and studio) and Rowe House â self-catered
- Rowancroft (en-suite and studio), Rowancroft Mews (St Lukes) â self catered
Please note that you will be required to join a queue outside the specific residence until the room is available for you to view, accompanied by one of our Student Ambassadors. Viewing maps will be available at both accommodation information points throughout the day.
To help you utilise your time, we do suggest that if you have been to see an en-suite room within a block at Lafrowda then you will not need to visit another en-suite room at Lafrowda – the blocks may differ in size but the rooms will be exactly the same. The only thing which will differ is the view from the window. The en-suite rooms at Lafrowda are the same as at Birks Grange Village and Duryard. It is worth seeing the different types of room though (for example en-suite and standard) so that you can see how they compare.
Students are currently still in residence which is why we are unable to show more rooms. If you wish to see our other residences then please view our virtual tours. Don’t forget, not all of our self-catered residences are located on campus. To show you what off-campus accommodation is like we will also have en-suite rooms available to view at Point Exe (near to Exeter St David’s train station) and The Printworks (in the city centre, at the top end of the High Street) between 3:00pm-6:00pm on both days. If you wish to view these rooms, you just need to make your own way there and a member of staff will be available to help.
*You may notice as you wander around Lafrowda that there is scaffolding in place. We have a scheduled programme of essential repairs on blocks in Lafrowda, and also Birks Grange Village, which is due to be complete during the 2020/21 academic year.
New residences
In addition to these, we are building three new student residences on campus.
- East Park
- Moberly (undergraduate only)
- Spreytonway (postgraduate only)
These residences are scheduled to open in September 2020, with the second phase of East Park scheduled to open in September 2021. Come along and see the Accommodation Team in the Forum on the Open Days for more information on what these new residences can offer you.
We hope this blog given you a good overview on what to expect during the Open Days. If you would like any further information or have any questions, please do contact us and we will be happy to help.
For those of you who are attending the Open Days, we wish you safe travels and look forward to meeting you soon!
