We hope you have had a great week so far! Tomorrow marks the end of Term 3 and with that begins our contract end dates. In today’s blog, we are sharing information and updates with you about vacating your accommodation and what you need to do. This is also our last blog post for our current students until we return again in September.

Moving out of your residence
If it is the end of term then that means it is also the end of our catered residence contracts, but for those of you living in self-catered residences then the first contract end date is Saturday 22 June (40 week contracts). Please refer to our ‘moving out’ webpages for information about your departure. Students are asked to vacate their rooms and return their keys by 10:00am on the morning of their departure. If you will be moving out of your accommodation prior to this date or outside of the reception opening times, please see your residence reception webpage for information on where to return your key out of hours.

We still have some students contracted to rooms after this time, and these contract end dates are detailed below:

  • 42 weeks – Saturday 6 July 2019
  • 43 weeks – Saturday 13 July 2019
  • 44 weeks – Saturday 20 July 2019
  • 51 weeks – Saturday 7 September 2019*

Students on a 44 week contract will receive a newsletter by email during the last week of June with updates and information on moving out and what you need to do. Students on a 51 week contract will receive this newsletter around the middle of August.

*For students on a 51 week contract ending on Saturday 7 September, just a reminder that this date falls on one of our Open Days. We would suggest planning your moving out day before Saturday 7 September, if this is possible, as it will be very busy on campus.

Vacating catered accommodation
This weekend marks the contract end date for students living in our catered accommodation. Students are asked to vacate their rooms and return your keys to your residence reception by 10:00am on Saturday 15 June. Please see our website for information about moving out. Please note that the final meal served before you depart from your accommodation will be breakfast served on Saturday 8.00am-9:30am; there will not be any further meals served during the day.

Summer accommodation arrivals
Many students will be moving into James Owen Court and Birks Grange Village soon for the summer. If you currently live in University accommodation and will be moving to one of our summer rooms on Saturday 22 June, then please ensure you vacate your term time room by 10:00am. Emails have been sent to you to provide you with information about your arrival so please read it carefully to know when and where to pick up your keys.

If you are not currently in Exeter but you are arriving for your summer accommodation stay on Saturday 22 June and your journey means that you are delayed until after 11:00pm, please contact Estate Patrol on 01392 723999 upon arrival to arrange access to your room.

If you are arriving on a date after Saturday 22 June then please refer to the Arrival Details email which will have been sent to you, as different arrangements are likely to apply.

Private accommodation
If you are in the process of looking for private housing in the city, there’s still plenty of options out there. Have a read of our webpage for more help and advice. Studentpad is a great website to find housing options and availability. It’s free to use and there are lots of different property types that you can view. At the time of writing this blog, we have 34 properties showing on our Studentpad site. You can also contact landlords directly and ask any questions that you might have.

Keeping your items safe
The University of Exeter works in partnership with Endsleigh so your belongings are protected while you are staying in your accommodation. When you leave this cover will end, but you can continue to protect your belongings. You can check your cover  here  or contact  Endsleigh to find out more.

Staying in Exeter?
If you’re staying in Exeter during the summer, why not use the time as a perfect opportunity to go and explore our beautiful city and county of Devon. We have some excellent countryside (Dartmoor and Exmoor) and some beautiful beaches nearby. There are a number of walks available on the Council Website and you can also hire bikes in the city to help you explore more areas. Take a look at the Whats On Devon website for information about events that are taking place over the summer.

Accommodation Drop-in
Friday 14 June is the last day for our accommodation drop-in sessions. If you would like to speak to a member of the Accommodation Office during the vacation period then we can be contacted via SID on 0300 555 0444 or by emailing: sid@exeter.ac.uk.

For students still in residence with any day to day requests or maintenance issues you can contact your residence reception directly.

Summer accommodation availability
If you require one of our summer accommodation single en-suite rooms at James Owen Court then we still have some availability. We also have limited studio availability at Birks Grange Village for those students whose contracts end in June and July but wish to remain in University of Exeter accommodation during the summer vacation. In order to qualify for summer accommodation, you need to have a valid Student ID card. Summer accommodation is available at any time between 22 June and 7 September 2019 for a minimum contract length of four weeks.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful summer filled with happiness, laughter and lots of fun, new experiences!
