We can hardly believe it, but Arrivals Weekend is here! We welcome all our new students to the University of Exeter and look forward to meeting you. Today we are giving you a recap on arrangements for arriving to your residence, highlighting the events that will keep you busy over your first week here and explaining who your key contacts are should you have any queries.

What do the time slots mean?
Your arrival time slot is for 30 minutes only and this includes arriving, unloading outside of your residence and then leaving. When you ‘leave’ you will be redirected to an alternative car parking space in order to continue unpacking or to leave your vehicle whilst you settle in.

If you wish to collect your keys before your arrival slot in preparation, then that’s absolutely fine. You will not be able to collect them any earlier than 9:00am unless you have made prior arrangements with us.

Arriving earlier or later than your arrival slot
If you wish to arrive earlier or later than your booked arrival slot, or have been delayed by traffic, then please see the information below about what to do:

  • Arrive before 11:00am or after 3:00pm on either Saturday 14 or Sunday 15 September and speak to one of the Marshalls or Parking Attendants available on the day. They will be able to advise you when a space will be free in order for you to park and move in to your accommodation.
  • Please aim to arrive at either 15 minutes past the hour or 15 minutes to the hour to ease the flow of people arriving at the same time. Priority will be given to students who have used our on-line booking system and have a pre-booked slot so you may be asked to wait in another location until there is a space for you unload at your residence. Please do not try to book another arrival time on our system if this is the case.

Bringing a different vehicle?
If you are bringing a different vehicle or have entered the registration number incorrectly then please do not worry. Simply write your new registration on your parking permit and place this in your car window upon your arrival.

Sorted out your social diary?
The Residence Life Team have a number of events taking place across the Arrivals Weekend. Take a look at their website to see what is going on and when. If you are a self-catered student and don’t fancy cooking over the weekend then why not join in with the Mexican or Curry Night for the bargain price of just £2.35?! As well as this, a number of our Guild Societies have events running throughout Arrivals and Freshers’. Make sure you check out what is going on.

Speak to your residence reception
If you have any queries about your room or your residence, then you will need to speak to your Residence Reception in the first instance.  If you need to speak to a member of the Accommodation Office then the reception will direct you to us.

Get in touch with the Accommodation Office
If you have any contractual queries and need to contact the Accommodation Office then we are available between 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday by telephoning 0300 555 0444 or email to: sid@exeter.ac.uk.

Over the Arrivals Weekend you can also drop-in to see us in The Forum, via SID (Streatham Campus) if you wish to speak with a member of the team in person. We will be available on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September between 9:00am-5:00pm and then from 9:30am-4:30pm on weekdays until 27 September. Our drop in sessions then continue Monday to Friday for the rest of term – see details on our webpage for opening times.

Last blog of the summer!
This is the last of our extra blogs over the summer period, but we are not going completely! You are now current students and we will be posting a blog every Thursday at 11:00am for you. This will keep you updated on meals, events and all things accommodation during 2019/20. You can also keep an eye on our Accommodation Facebook page for any additional updates throughout the week. If you don’t have Facebook, then don’t worry, we have a live stream of our feed showing on the homepage of our Accommodation website for your convenience.

We hope you have a safe and pleasant journey to Exeter.
