Having just moved offices ourselves, we know how much planning there is in making a move, so we’ve updated our Moving in pages to help to answer questions about coming to University.

From August, once you’ve secured your accommodation with us, there are a few things you’ll be able to do before you arrive.

  1. Induction

The online induction takes about 20 minutes and gives information about living in University residences and important reminders about your contract.

There will be details about the residence you have been allocated to, including:

  • how to collect your post
  • safety and security
  • support services available to you
  • what to bring with you to University
  1. Booking an arrival time

Once you have completed the induction you will need to book an arrival time. This applies to all students, regardless of how you are travelling to the University (ie car, train or coach from an airport). The main days for moving into one of our residences are:

  • Saturday 12 September
  • Sunday 13 September
  • Some of our larger residences have arrival times on Friday 11 September

Booking an arrival slot means that we will be expecting you and will be able to welcome to your new home. We need to make sure that each student has enough time to unload their belongings, so if you’re coming by car, book an arrival slot and you’ll have 20 minutes to unload at your residence. After unloading, you can move your vehicle to somewhere else on campus where you can leave it for longer.

  1. Early arrival

We encourage all students to plan their arrival for Arrivals Weekend, but if you meet our criteria for early arrival (please scroll down and read the information under the last tab “Early Arrivals) you can now apply for accommodation before the main arrival dates. Your term time room may not be available before 11 September and so if you do have to arrive before then you may have to take a temporary room for a short period.

So, that gives you a few ideas of ways you can start to get ready for arriving at University. Look out for the email telling you that you can log on and use the system, and if you have any other questions about arriving to University, do get in touch.

We look forward to welcoming you in September.

Update for those who are making a deposit payment this week

Due to essential updating of the University Finance system, any accommodation deposits paid between 31 July and 5 August will not register with the Accommodation Office until after 5 August.

If you pay during this time we will continue to reserve your room and you will receive your accommodation confirmation email on or after 6 August.
