Our drop-in sessions within The Forum will be available between 11:00am – 3:00pm Monday to Friday starting on Monday 4 January.

To find out when your residence reception is open over the vacation, please see our website. Make sure you check out the opening times for various student services across the Streatham and St Luke’s campus to see when they are available over Christmas.

New Year, New Blog!
Next year we will be having two blog posts a week instead of just the one. We will be posting on a Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00am. The Tuesday blog posts are intended for new and prospective students and will provide information on the application process, information on residences and options. The blogpost on a Thursday will be for current students and will provide information about on campus events, residence updates, private housing and who is available. We are very excited for this new change and would really enjoy some feedback about what you want to see in the blog, so please feel free to comment below or send an email to the Accommodation Office via: sid@exeter.ac.uk.

Private housing
As many current students will be searching for housing for next year in January, we have updated our private housing pages. Please take a look for information about the right to rent checks which will be in place from 1 February 2016 and for information on larger providers within the city. We have also included a ‘housing terminology‘ list which helps to make sense of some of the jargon which is used by agents and landlords.

We look forward to seeing you at the Students’ Guild Housing Fair on Tuesday 12 January 2016 which will be in the Great Hall between 11:00am – 3:00pm.

Departing or arriving for the semester
Students who have stayed with us for the first semester or students who are arriving with us for the second semester, please make sure you have a look at last week’s blog post which provides information on your arrivals and departures.

Staying safe in the city
We have received correspondence from the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary to advise that FullSizeRenderduring the festive period they tend to experience a higher number of offences targeting people who are walking home late or after an evening out. Please read the following hints and tips for safety advice with regard to your walk home and see their Personal Safety Flyer.

So long, farewell…
The Accommodation Team and Residences are waving a fond farewell to Nicola Baker who has worked within residences for 35 years and is retiring today. Nicola will probably be recognised by many of you and I am sure you will all join me in wishing her good luck and best wishes with her retirement. Here she is cutting her wombles leaving cake (no wombles were harmed).

See you all in the New Year!
