Happy New Year to all of our current students, we hope you all had an enjoyable break. As we mentioned in the last blog post of 2015, the blogs are now changing and we are posting a blog twice a week. The first blog on a Tuesday is for all new/prospective students and the second blog which is posted on a Thursday is intended for all current University of Exeter students.
Housing for 2016/17
The Students’ Guild Housing Fair takes place on Tuesday 12 January in the Great Hall between 11:00am-3:00pm. This is an opportunity for you to meet with landlords and larger providers from the private sector and also to speak with the Accommodation Office.
Properties have been advertised from Tuesday 5 January 2016 for landlords who are accredited through the AfS/Unipol Accreditation Scheme. Please see Studentpad for 2016/17 availability. All other properties on the Studentpad housing list for 2016/17 will show from Tuesday 12 January 2016.
If you are struggling to find people to live with next year then fear not because the Studentpad website has created a ‘room mate finder’ facility where you can register your details in order to find other students who are looking to share private housing. To access this new function you will need to login to the Studentpad Message Board.
Residence Life Mentor Applications
Have you ever thought about becoming a Residence Life Mentor? The applications for 2016/17 open on 12 January 2016 and information will be available on our website then. As a Mentor, you would be responsible for welcoming and supporting a group of students living in University accommodation, helping them to have a positive experience of their time in residence, and empowering them to resolve any problems.
Two of our current Residence Life Mentors wrote a great guest blog for us last January about why they became a mentor and it is still a very inspiring read for any of you who might be interested.
Departing or arriving for the semester
Students who have stayed with us during the first semester or students who are arriving with us for the second semester from January – June 2016, please make sure you have a look at our December blog post which provides information on your arrivals and departures.
Drop-in sessions
If you wish to see a member of the Accommodation Office to discuss any queries that you may have then come and see us at one of our drop-in sessions. They are held in The Forum (via SID) and we are available Monday to Friday between 11:00am-3:00pm.
Next week we will be updating you on the Right to Rent checks which are being put in place from 1 February 2016 and will be updating you on the housing situation within the city.
