Moving rooms
Last term we were able to move a number of students who had requested to move rooms for a variety of reasons. These students were asked to log a ‘changing room or residence’ form through SID Online and were dealt with in accordance with availability and priority.

During December 2016, we emailed a number of students who remained on our waiting list to see if they still wanted to move. Many students had since settled in their accommodation and no longer wished to move, whilst others remained on our waiting list for any suitable vacancies which became available. If you are either on our waiting list or wish to move rooms then come and visit a member of the Accommodation Office at one of our drop-in sessions to see what is available and to discuss your options. We can be visited in The Forum (via SID) between 11:00am-3:00pm Monday to Friday throughout term time.

For information on room moves and to find out if there are any charges involved, please visit our ‘room moves‘ webpage.

Catered menus update
Are you living in catered halls? Did you know that new, improved food menus are now available? Significant changes have been made to both the breakfast and evening meal menus to reflect the evolution of modern food trends and customer preference. During 2016, many students joined us in market research by taking part in focus groups and therefore, the Residences Catering Team have developed a new innovative menu for the spring term.

Findings identified that the full English breakfast was a dated and unhealthy option. Therefore, the new Weekday Breakfast includes items such fruit or vegetable smoothies, omelettes with a variety of fillings and a wider selection of fresh fruit have been introduced to help alleviate the unhealthy undertone to the meal. Further to this, daily specials are now on the morning menu. Items such as continental meats and cheeses, breakfast burritos, frittatas and American pancakes will compliment many of the morning favourites that will remain on offer.

Work has already begun on a new menu for the summer term. Any suggestions or ideas that you may have to help us meet this task will always be greatly appreciated. Should you have a meal suggestion that you would like to bring to the attention of the Residences Catering Manager, then please complete a meal suggestion form.

Students living within self-catered halls are more than welcome to purchase a meal at a catered hall throughout the term by purchasing a guest voucher (valid on the day of purchase only) from the catered hall reception. The prices are:
  • Breakfast – £4.00
  • Brunch (Saturday/Sunday) – £5.80
  • Dinner – £6.75
