This week we are looking into the various events taking place at the University of Exeter over the next few weeks. Thanks to Helen Anderson from the Residence Life Team for writing the piece about student elections.

Student Elections (by Helen Anderson)
Next week, elections will take place for a range of student representative posts including the ‘Sabbs’ (Sabbatical Officers) – the Students’ Guild President and Vice Presidents and the AU President. Elections week tends to be very busy on campus as all the candidates and their teams will be really keen to tell you about their manifestos and hear about your priorities as a student. Voting will be open from 13-17 February and all students are eligible to participate. You can read about the elections on the Students’ Guild website along with finding out more about the current Sabbs and the work they’ve been doing to represent you. Please do take the opportunity to cast your vote and make your voice heard.

Chinese New Year
The university’s event celebrating the Chinese New Year – Year of the Rooster is taking place on Saturday 11 February between 1:00pm and 6:30pm. We provided information on this event within last week’s blog post. In order to see a full list of the programme and what you can expect to see, take a look at the International Student Support webpage for information.

CaptureValentines Day
You may notice that ‘love is in the air’ on Tuesday 14 February as our catered halls will be decorated ready to celebrate Valentines Day. Holland Hall will have a chocolate fountain available on the day itself and the fountain will be available at our other catered residences over the coming weeks. The menu for Valentines Day can be seen to the right.

Visitors or students living within our self catered accommodation are more than welcome to purchase a meal at a catered hall throughout the term and join us at any of our themed events. Please see our website for price information.

Offer Holder Visit Days
Over the coming weeks, you will notice that our campus will be getting busier on some Wednesdays and Saturdays with visitors. We have a number of Offer Holder Visit Days happening throughout February and March and accommodation viewings will be taking place at dedicated rooms in Rowancroft, Holland Hall and Lafrowda. Please be mindful of visitors during this time and if they need any help, please direct them to our Student Ambassadors who will be wearing yellow t-shirts.
