Now that the Guild Elections are over, the campus hasn’t seemed as busy this week, however, there is plenty coming up and next week we will be letting you know what the university has in store for Fairtrade Fortnight. This week, we are looking at support available for those living in the city, how to provide feedback about your residence, pancake day events and finding a flatmate.
Residential Services feedback
There are currently touch screens situated within the reception areas at Birks Grange Central Block, Holland Hall, Lopes Hall and Radford House at Rowancroft and are a way for you, our current students to provide feedback which would help to enhance or improve the services which are currently provided. You are also able to give feedback online.
Searching for flatmates for next year?
Are you looking for an extra person to fill that perfect house? Maybe you’re looking for a group of like-minded people to live with next year? Studentpad has a ‘sharers’ facility whereby you can register your details in order to find other students who are looking to share private housing. If you are struggling to find other housemates then check out how to become a sharer or find sharers by logging in to the Studentpad Message Board. We also recommend that you post an advert or look through current adverts on the University Noticeboard.
To coincide with this on Friday 3 March between 7:00pm-8:30pm, why not pop along to Pieminister in Devonshire House and take part in the Students’ Guild Flatmate Finder event where you are able to meet other students who are also looking for flatmates.
Living in the city?
For those students living within the city then please remember that the Student Community Wardens are available to chat about any issues or queries to do with your community. As well as this, they can also help to security mark any of your valuables.
Look out for your local Warden – they wear branded ‘Student Community Warden’ jackets and polo-shirts and are always happy to chat. Wardens are active citizens who are often seen conducting ‘walkabouts’ in their area. They attend community meetings and help to facilitate ongoing campaigns such as the ‘Students On The Move’ refuse removal scheme. Pancake Day
Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) takes place this year on Tuesday 28 February and we hope to have a very special Facebook video coming your way from one of our chefs showing you how to make the perfect pancake. Our catered halls will be serving pancakes for dessert on the Tuesday and students at Birks Grange will be able to enjoy a chocolate fountain. The chocolate fountain will then be available at Lopes Hall on Tuesday 14 March. Pancakes will also be available in La Touche and the Terrace between 11:30am-2:30pm for £1.00 each with a section of fillings including Nutella and banana or lemon and sugar.
In addition to this, why not go along to the Pancake Party hosted by the Chaplaincy Team at St Luke’s Chaplains House (3 Spicer Road)? Everyone is welcome from 7:00pm for drinks, pancakes and chatter – it is not just for the Chapel community.
Accommodation drop in
Do you have a question related to accommodation? Why not speak to a member of the Accommodation Team in person? We are available in The Forum (via SID) between 11:00am – 3:00pm Monday to Friday. There is no question that is too big or too small.
