Last Week saw the launch of the Students’ Guild Accommodation Campaign. Take a look below to find out more about what is happening over the next week:
Accommodation in returning years?
In last week’s blog post we updated you on the 4Ps: Price, Place, People and Paperwork which you should consider when beginning your private accommodation search in the city. The Students’ Guild Website provides a great deal of advice on what you should be doing in preparation.
As well as the information given on their website, they have some pop-up sessions taking place in The Forum as well as the Accommodation Fair on 21 November in the Great Hall. The next scheduled event and a chance for you to meet with Kat Karamani the VP Welfare & Diversity and the team of Students’ Guild Accommodation volunteers is:
- People Pop-Up – Monday 30 October – 12:00pm – 3:00pm – Forum Street
Safety in your residence
We have been made aware of a small kitchen fire which took place at one of our residences recently due to the wrong type of electrical adaptor being used. Please note that if you have electrical equipment sourced from outside the UK, you must ensure that your equipment is compatible with the UK mains power supply which is 220-240V, 50 Hz. If your equipment has a different rating it may not work properly and could be dangerous to use. Please ensure you are using plugs as shown below:For further information and advice about staying safe within your residence, please refer to our website and view our Fire Safety video.
Chatting to the Accommodation Team?
If you wish to move rooms for any reason, we strongly encourage that you see the information on our website on how your details can be added to our ‘Request to Move’ form. Alternatively you can pop in and see a member of the Accommodation Office at one of our drop-in sessions. These will be running between 10:00am-4:00pm Monday to Friday. If you have any queries outside of these hours then please email us or telephone us on 0300 555 0444 (managed 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday).
