Applications have been opened for over a week now and a number of you have been asking us some questions about applying for accommodation. Please see below for some answers to these frequently asked questions:
What application type do I apply for?
The image showed below is the different application types you see when you click on the ‘Apply Now’ button within your Accommodation Account. If you are applying for this September then please make sure you choose ‘2018/19’ as the academic year.
Many new students are applying incorrectly as a ‘Current Support’ application. This application is for our current, returning students who have a supported medical application for 2018/19. Information about these application types are available on our ‘When to apply‘ webpage. If you are still unsure then do not hesitate to contact us.

How do you allocate rooms?
Please visit our ‘Room allocation procedure‘ webpages for information on how we allocate students to rooms/residences based on the information they provide within their application forms. It also details the additional preferences which are listed on the application form to help us match you to the most suitable flat. We do read every single interest and note which you provide within your application in order to match you to a flat with people we think you’re going to get along with.
Is it compulsory to live in University accommodation in my first year?
Students are not required to stay in University accommodation at any point whilst they are studying with us. If you wish to look for private housing within the city then we recommend that you look at the following webpages for help and advice on where to look:
