This week are answering your frequently asked questions from the past couple of weeks. Some of it we have covered before but it’s just a reminder on what to do:

Amending your accommodation application once it’s submitted
Some students have been contacting us to ask how they can amend or delete their submitted accommodation application.  This is possible if your application is at the ‘submitted stage’ (see our ‘track your application’ webpage for information) and we would recommend you look at the advice given below:

To amend or delete your current application, please follow the following instructions:

  • Log back in to your accommodation account
  • Navigate to the ‘My Application and Booking’ tab
  • Select ‘View’ against your application
  • To amend your application, please select ‘edit’ against the relevant section – you can make changes to the additional information here, but you may only re-order your residence preferences at this stage. Please ‘save’ the application once again. Your original ‘submit’ date will remain the same.
  • To change your residence preferences you will need to ‘delete’ your current application and create a new one with your revised preferences.  Scroll to the bottom of your current application summary page and select ‘delete’.  You may then create a new application and submit your application once again. Please note that if you do this then your original submission date will be lost.

We recommend you review our accommodation guarantee for further details. If you application is not at Submitted stage and you would like to make change, please contact us.

Residences selling out
Northernhay House, Northfield, The Printworks and Point Exe are our nominated residences which means that the University of Exeter has secured a number of rooms for our students only. If these residences advertise on their own individual websites that rooms are ‘sold out’ please rest assured that these do not include the rooms which the University of Exeter have alrady secured. You are still able to submit an application to any of our nominated residences.

Nominated residences
Some questions have been coming in about our nominated accommodation and who you will shared with if you are allocated to one of these residences.

In all four of our nominated residences, the University has secured rooms in flats and all the students allocated to this accommodation will be first year students. The Accommodation Team process allocations to these residences as well as our University of Exeter residences and therefore will apply the same criteria when making allocations. We will match you with other students as detailed within our room allocation procedure.

If you are allocated to these residences, you will be contacted by the company providing the accommodation and you will sign a contract and pay rent to this company. However, we will still be part of the relationship and provide support including the Residence Life Team to those students who have been nominated.

When can I arrive and when is Freshers’ Week?
We have updated our website with all the information you will need about Freshers’ Week and knowing when you can arrive at your residence. This will help answer your questions around this subject.
