Can you believe that it is June tomorrow which means that the end of exams is in sight and many of you will be moving out of your accommodation? To coincide with this, we have Open Days taking place on both Friday 1 and Saturday 2 June at both our Streatham and St Lukes Campus’. Our blog today will provide you information about these days, what is happening and how you can ensure a smooth departure from your room.

Open Days
On Friday 1 June and Saturday 2 June we will have Open Days taking place between 9:30am-4:30pm at the Streatham Campus and 9:30am-3:30pm at the St Lukes Campus. Viewings will be taking place at the following residences which are likely to be busy and will be led by our Student Ambassadors (in yellow ‘Ask Me’ t-shirts:

  • Rowancroft and Rowancroft Mews
  • Lafrowda and Rowe House
  • Exeter Halls
  • The Printworks (3:00pm-6:00pm)
  • Point Exe (3:00pm – 6:00pm)

Moving out of your accommodation this weekend
To coincide with the Open Days we will have traffic marshalls situated at Lafrowda and Rowe House in order to monitor the amount of cars coming in and out. We advise students to move out before 10:00am or after 3:00pm on these days as access roads will very busy during this period.

Parking whilst moving out of your accommodation Monday-Friday
You will be sent a moving out newsletter over the next few days but please note that if you are moving out Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm that you will need to collect a parking form from your Residence Reception and put in the windscreen of your car. This form will allow you 30 minutes to load your car while moving out. There are no parking restrictions between 6:00pm-8:00am and at the weekend.

What do I need to do when I move out?
Information about moving out can be found on our self-catered and catered webpages and it will provide information on how to leave your room or communal area. Don’t forget, you can donate items to the British Heart Foundation. Find out what you can donate by viewing the Moving On flyer.

Barbecues in the warmer weather
With the weather getting warmer, it is likely that people will want to get BBQ’s out. Please remember that BBQ’s, including disposable BBQ’s are not allowed on campus unless you have completed an ‘Outdoor Event Request’ form and sought approval. Why not take a trip to the beach instead for a BBQ? Approved beaches include: Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth. Disposable BBQs are allowed on these beaches but must be removed when finished and disposed of carefully. Please see the East Devon District Council website for further information.
