We have looked at the most frequently asked questions from students recently and have created a Q&A style blog post for this week.
When is the deadline for applying for accommodation?
Technically we don’t have a ‘deadline’ for applying for accommodation and you are able to apply whenever. However, we do have our Accommodation Guarantee deadline of 31 July. This is for students who fall within our Accommodation Guarantee.
If you are applying from 1 August onwards then please see the advice offered on our website which will provide you with further information.
How do we know if we have been allocated to a single/double bed?
One of the top questions we get asked after offers sent out are from our students in the summer is whether they have been allocated to a single/double bed. You can find this information out on our self-catered or catered residence pages and choosing the residence. Within the residence page, click on ‘room details’ to see the bed size for that residence.
Both Rowe House and St Germans have a mixture of single and double beds which is a bit more difficult to work out. We therefore recommend that you contact us once you have been sent your offer to find out if you have been provisionally allocated to a room with a single or double bed. Please note that we are unable to confirm room numbers with you until you arrive.
If we are studying the International Baccalaureate when do we receive our offer?
Students studying the IB will receive their accommodation offer by the end of July. Please ensure that you have access to your registered email address during this time in order to receive your accommodation offer. We provided information about students receiving results in July in last week’s blogpost.
When do we know when we can move in?
Arrivals weekend will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September 2018. If you offered a place in Lafrowda, Rowe, St German’s or Birks Grange Village self-catered accommodation then arrivals will also take place on Friday 14 September 2018 and welcome activities will be available from this date. Full details of Freshers’ events for Arrivals Weekend will be available on the Student Guild website.
You will be able to book an arrival slot to bring a car on campus, outside your residence, to unload for 20 minutes. You will then be redirected to a car park on campus as you unload. Please remember that car parking is not available to resident students. The only exception is the drop-off times for Arrivals Weekend.
Students who have accepted an offer for one of our nominated residences: Point Exe, Northfield, Northernhay House or The Printworks are not required to complete the online induction or book an arrival time. You will be contacted by your specific residence directly in order to arrange your arrival.
Please note that from next week the only blogs available until September will be aimed at you, our new and prospective students.
