Many of you are now preparing for your Arrival at the University of Exeter and will begin to book your arrival time slots and are starting to plan what to bring. The information below is providing information to help you with your preparation:
Preparing for your arrival
It is September on Saturday! Which means that from tomorrow it’s just two weeks until some of you will begin to arrive at your accommodation. I can imagine that over the next couple of weeks you will be frantically trying to organise yourselves. Do make sure you’ve looked at the advice on our Arrivals and Freshers’ webpage which includes a checklist on ‘what to bring‘.
Ordering items online and sending to your residence
We do not recommend that you purchase items online and send to your reception prior to your arrival. This is due to storage within your residence reception being limited during this time. There are a number of shops, department stores and supermarkets within the city centre and around Exeter (from Wilkinson to Ikea to John Lewis) where you can buy items ready for your stay with us.
The exception to the rule is if you purchase starter packs, kitchen packs and bedding packs* etc through Click2Campus. These are sent close to your arrival and will be held at your residence reception until the day that you arrive with us.
*Please check your individual residence webpage for bed sizes* (catered or self-catered) under the ‘room details tab’. Students placed within Rowe House will have been notified by email if they have been allocated to a room with a single bed.
Deposits
We are aware of a system delay which is why it’s taking slightly longer for deposits to transfer to us and why your offer state will still show as “accepted – await deposit” . Please allow three working days for your deposit to come through to us as it does not update automatically. If you have not received a confirmation email after three working days, please do not hesitate to contact us and we can look into this for you. We do allow a little extra time for a deposit to come through.
Booking an arrival time slot over Arrivals Weekend (15/16 September) until 16 October.
From tomorrow (Friday 31 August), everyone who has received their Contract Formation Email from the University of Exeter confirming their room booking for 2018/19 will have received an email advising them that they can complete their online eInduction and book their arrival slot. Please view the below ‘how to’ videos for information:
Arrival time slots are for 30 minutes and don’t worry, there is not normally only one time slot available. If you wish to amend your booking slot, this is available 4 minutes into the ‘how to’ video shown above.
*If you have received an offer at one of our Nominated residences then you will not need to complete the eInduction or arrival through us, you will have received instructions regarding this from your residence.
Looking to book an arrival time between midnight-9:00am over Arrivals Weekend?
If you will be arriving between midnight and 9:00am across the Arrivals Weekend then you will need to email: sid@exeter.ac.uk and advise us of the arrival time as you will be considered as an ‘out of hours arrival’. We will then update you via email nearer the time what to do when you arrive and where to collect your key.
Arriving after the Arrivals Weekend?
If you are arriving after 16 September then you should still book a time slot through the online booking system so that we continue to hold your accommodation for you. This is only available for students arriving up until 16 October. After this date, you will need to notify us by email.
If you have any queries about this, please contact the Accommodation Office on 0300 555 0444 we are available between 8:45am-5:15pm Thursday 30 and Friday 31 August. Tomorrow we will provide information about events taking place across Arrivals and Freshers’ Week.
