This week our blog is looking at the private housing sector as well as the experience of students living in our residences. We will also shed some light on the building activity which is happening around campus.
Private housing for September 2019
Are you struggling to find somewhere to live next year? Thereâs no need to panic. At the time of writing, our Studentpad site had
59 adverts with availability from September 2019. This is across a range of accommodation types: shared houses/flats, single rooms within shared properties, studios and rooms with resident landlords or host families. Studentpad is a free-to-use accommodation search portal, administered by the Accommodation Office. There is also a âroom-mate finderâ facility where you can register your details in order to find other students who are looking to share private housing. This is a great tool if you donât know who to live with, or maybe you are away on a year abroad or placement. You can do this via the Studentpad Message Board.
Clear Lettings Ltd trading as Clear Property
You may have heard over the news that one of Exeterâs estate and lettings agencies, Clear Property, ceased trading on 26 February 2019. If you rented your property through Clear Property, or had arranged a tenancy agreement through the company for the next academic year, then please take a look at Exeter Guildâs news article which gives useful advice and contact details for the insolvency company who have been appointed. If you have any concerns or require support then you can speak to the Studentsâ Guild Advice Unit in person or via advice@exeterguild.com
New residences
You may have noticed lots of building activity happening near the Business School and Lafrowda, next to St Germanâs and on the way to Duryard. This is the development of our new student residences â Spreytonway, Moberly and East Park â which are scheduled to open in September 2020 and September 2021, and will create over 1500 self-catered bedrooms. Student Living Experience
We will shortly be contacting those of you living in our residences to ask for your thoughts about your time living in university accommodation. This insight really helps us to learn about what is important to you and how we can improve our service. Look out for an email over the next couple of weeks which will contain a link to a short questionnaire â all respondents will be entered into a draw with the chance of winning Amazon vouchers.
