Sorry we’re a bit late today! We hope you have had a great week so far. It’s almost June, which means that the end of exams is in sight and many of you will be moving out of your accommodation. To coincide with this, we have Open Days taking place on both Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June at both our Streatham and St Luke’s Campuses. In our blog today, we wanted to share some information about the Open Days, what is happening and how you can ensure a smooth departure from your room.
Open Days
On Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June we will have Open Days taking place between 9:30am-4:30pm at the Streatham Campus and 9:30am-3:30pm at the St Luke’s Campus. Viewings will be taking place at the following residences which are likely to be busy and will be led by our Student Ambassadors (in yellow ‘Ask Me’ t-shirts):
- Rowancroft and Rowancroft Mews
- Lafrowda and Rowe House
- Exeter Halls
- The Printworks (3:00pm-6:00pm)
- Point Exe (3:00pm – 6:00pm)
Moving out of your accommodation this weekend
To coincide with the Open Days we will have traffic marshals situated at Lafrowda and Rowe House in order to monitor the amount of cars coming in and out. We advise students to move out before 10:00am or after 3:00pm on these days as access roads will very busy during this period.
Parking whilst moving out of your accommodation Monday – Friday
You will have been sent a moving out newsletter recently. Please note that if you are moving out between Monday and Friday between the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm that you will need to collect a parking form from your Residence Reception and put this in the windscreen of your car. This form will allow you 30 minutes to load your car while moving out. There are no parking restrictions between 6:00pm-8:00am and at the weekend.
What do I need to do when I move out?
Information about moving out can be found on our self-catered and catered webpages and it will provide information on how to leave your room or communal area. Don’t forget, you can donate items to the British Heart Foundation and you can find out more by viewing the Moving On flyer. You can also read our recent blog which has lots of helpful hints and ideas on what you can do with any unwanted items that you might have.
End of term events
We have the Therapy Dogs joining us on campus today between 12:00pm and 2:00pm. To reserve a hug with the dogs, book your session now! The therapy dogs will be waiting for you, wagging their tails, at Birks Grange Village and Lopes Hall. These are free sessions, spaces are limited and available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis – but there’s still time now to book onto a session!
All you need to do is choose where you want to go to see the therapy dogs and select the correct link below:

If you are joining us for today’s session, there’s a few things we need to remember to keep our furry friends happy and healthy while they are visiting us:
• Give them their space when they are in the session or taking an exercise break around the halls.
• Follow the dog handler’s guidelines and directions when interacting with them.
• Although we love to give out treats, we can’t take the dogs off their healthy diet, so please don’t fed them.
• We want all students to enjoy their time with the dogs and have a hug, so please stick within your time slot.
…And lastly, there will be a donation box for the charity at the event if you would like to donate. The Therapy Dogs Nationwide rely on donations to keep doing the vital work that they do. Please feel free to leave a donation to help the dogs keep giving hugs to everyone!
We hope you managed to join us on one of the events and days out recently. If not, you are still in time to join in on a day trip to the UK’s largest outdoor water park – Splashdown in Paignton!
Tickets are just £12.50 per person and this includes coach travel and your entry to the park, which is also located right alongside the beach. It’s a fantastic chance to wind down at the end of term!
If you would like to book a ticket to Splashdown, please visit the online store.
Wishing you a great rest of the week!
