We hope you have had a great weekend! In today’s blog, we are talking about prices, payments and paperwork. We are also answering a few questions about accommodation applications that have popped up recently.
Application status
Once you have submitted your accommodation application, please note that you are not able to make changes to this. You can contact us to advise of any changes you would like to make. You will need to put this in writing to us by sending an email to sid@exeter.ac.uk and including your full name, student ID number and the changes you would like to make. In the subject title of the email, please put ‘For the attention of the accommodation team.’ This will then come through to us more quickly.
Once you have submitted your accommodation application you will be able to track the progress online by logging in to your accommodation account and visiting the ‘Applications’ section. For an overview of application statuses, please view our track your application webpage.
If you haven’t submitted your accommodation application and would like to make changes to this, here’s a quick reminder of how you can do this:
- Amending your application: Select ‘edit’ against the section that you want to amend – you can make changes to the additional information here, but you can only re-order your residence preferences at this stage. Please click on ‘save’ and your original ‘submit’ date will remain the same.
- Changing your residence preferences: To do this, you will need to ‘delete’ your current application and create a new one, following the same steps as you did before. Scroll to the bottom of your current application summary page and select ‘delete’. You can then create a new application and submit this. Please note that if you do this then your original submission date will be lost – so be very careful if you are making this change around the time of our guarantee deadline.
You can also watch our helpful ‘how to‘ video guides which talk you through how to create, review and submit your accommodation application.
Prices
The accommodation fees are fully inclusive of utility charges. This includes internet connection, heating, electricity and water. University accommodation is also automatically exempt from Council Tax. For more information on prices, please view our catered costs and self-catered costs webpages.
Payments
We have received some queries regarding payments and when these will be due. Your payments and dates of when these are due will be outlined in your Offer of Accommodation.
Accommodation fees are due at the beginning of the academic year in full, or in termly instalments depending on your accommodation provider and payment option. For more information on payments, please see our ‘how to pay‘ webpage.
For more information on the different methods of payment you can use to pay your accommodation fees, please see the Student Finance webpages.
Paperwork
Although we no longer charge a deposit, once you accept an offer of accommodation, please remember that you are entering into a legally binding contract. Your Offer of Accommodation will contain information and guidance about the terms and conditions that apply to undertaking your residency in accommodation.
You can also view sample accommodation contracts to give you an overview of what these include:
2019/20 Terms and Conditions of Residence (self-catered and catered)
2019/20 Terms and Conditions of Residence (self-catered studio or flat)
If you are resident in one of our nominated properties (Northfield, Northernhay House, Point Exe, The Printworks or Clifford House) your accommodation contract will be with our partners and you can refer to their websites for contractual information about these residences.
Please take some time to read all the information in your offer in full before making your decision whether to accept the offer of accommodation.
