Hello! In a special additional post this week, we are bringing you some information about options for our self-catered students to take a meal in our catered halls. So if you fancy someone else doing the cooking and washing up for a change, then read on!
We focus on the food… so you can focus on your study
Food is the all-important fuel that we need to keep us going. It helps us focus, it keeps us healthy and more importantly it’s delicious! We last talked about food in our blog of 19 September 2019 in regard to planning your weekly meals. This is a great thing to do and can really help with budgets and organisation for minimal waste.
But there may be some weeks or days where you feel like you have books to read, essays to write, information to learn and still want time to socialise with friends… cooking is the last thing on your mind. That’s where we step in.
If you’re a student in self-catered accommodation, you might not realise it but you too can enjoy stress-free meals in catered halls. These are based in Holland Hall, Lopes Hall and Birks Grange. They provide breakfast 7 days a week, hot dinners 7 days a week and a brunch on the weekends.
Now we aren’t talking about a bowl of cereal and slice of toast …
No, no, no, we’re talking breakfast choice heaven.
If you have any intolerances or dietary requirements:
- Dairy free
- Gluten free
- Vegan friendly
- Vegetarian friendly
- Nut free
We’ve got you covered 🙂
And dinner…
Yes that’s tofu! There is plenty of choice on the menu. You can pick from a main, a choice of side dishes and a dessert!
That’s not all. We love experimenting and making sure that you always get different food and food to suit the seasons. Nothing beats a delicious roast in the colder months and fresh salad during the spring. We also do theme nights for particular occasions during the year, including:
- Chinese New Year
- Diwali
- Guy Fawkes
- Halloween
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
The majority of the food is self-serve and therefore you are fully in control.
The food halls have a great atmosphere and are really great for socialising.
The experience lets you enjoy your food, whilst allowing you to take a break and not worry about cooking, cleaning or tidying up.
As a self-catered student, you can pay as you go or purchase a meal package card which allows you to enjoy any 7 meals of your choice on any day for just £26.50. There is no limit on how many of these cards you would like to buy, the only rule is that they can only be used in term time.
These cards can be purchased from residences receptions all year round. To find out more, visit our About Catered Halls webpage.
So if you just want to free up some time and energy for yourself, or you want to join your catered friends for a meal then why not treat yourself? We will be back for our normal blog post on Thursday 14 November, but in the meantime have a great week.
