This team aims to achieve a breakthrough in early warning of tipping points by leveraging progress in theory, AI and physical understanding. The team are focusing on the Subpolar Gyre, because it could tip quickly and soon, meaning that critical slowing down behaviour may be expected before tipping. Through developing these early warning methods, the team intend to guide new observations, and increase confidence and precision in when a tipping point is likely to be crossed.”
