PROMs Conference 9 June 2016, Sheffield

The 2016 UK Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) research conference took place last week in Sheffield (#PROMsconf2016). Over one hundred participants took part, attending 12 parallel sessions and one poster session and plenaries on Computerized adaptive testing by Professor Tim Croudace, Dundee (discussant; Dr Chris Gibbons, Cambridge); Feedback on PROMs to healthcare providers by Associate Professor Joanne Greenhalgh (discussant: Prof John Browne, Cork); and Wellbeing by Professor John Brazier, Sheffield (discussant: Colin Green, Exeter).

APEx members Dr Ian Porter and Prof Jose M Valderas presented oral communications and Jaheeda Gangannagaripalli presented a poster on clinical applications of PROMs.

The conference was co-hosted by Professor John Brazier, Sheffield; Elizabeth Gibbons, Oxford; Professor Jose M Valderas, Exeter; and Dr Georgina Jones, Sheffield; and chaired by Professor Ray Fitzpatrick, Oxford. The conference was supported by NIHR CLAHRCs Peninsula, Yorkshire and Humber, Oxford, and East of England.

A pre-conference course on fundamentals of PROMs measurement organised by the International Society for Quality of Life Research (ISOQOL) was delivered by Prof Jose M Valderas and Dr William Lenderking, Evidera, Boston, US.
