Each window holds a concept that is over-layered with the forest behind. The difficulty of reading depending on the close focus; interferences are always present but even behind in this case (and others) the most important thing is what we are working for, the forest. This metaphor nevertheless is a glimpse to accompany the journey across concepts including multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, forest, resilience among other conceptual representations that bring all participants to the here-and-now and the aim of collaborating during this workshop and beyond.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_434\" style=\"width: 6000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-434\" class=\"wp-image-434 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/bioresilience\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2019\/09\/resilience-workshop-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"6000\" height=\"4000\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-434\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Resilience workshop, 17th of May 2019. Instituto Humboldt, Bogot\u00e1.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The introductory activity as an \u201cice breaker\u201d was the \u201cknot\u201d activity. Each participant was given a paper and two pieces of string. The paper had a narrative around the concept and instructions to accomplish the task which was \u201cmake a knot that represents yourself\u201d. This invitation was, therefore, a strategy to bring each participant to a more intimate atmosphere as this simple task could be taken from all possible perspectives while bringing in creativity from start. This also enabled people to be thinking while waiting for the others to arrive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-435 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/bioresilience\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2019\/09\/resilience-workshop-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"6000\" height=\"4000\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-436 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/bioresilience\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2019\/09\/resilience-workshop-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"6000\" height=\"4000\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-437 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/bioresilience\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2019\/09\/resilience-workshop-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"5696\" height=\"3632\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The workshop continued with presentations by the BioResilience team and a number of project examples from Instituto Humboldt and Seila. In addition, the\u00a0 workshop was followed by dividing participants into smaller groups where they had the opportunity to discuss the research questions that all components of the project Bioresilience were already discussing about:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What is &#8220;resilience&#8221; within your discipline and how do you study it, if at all?<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What methodologies do you use to study forest systems and what assumptions do these methodologies make?<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What experiences do you have of trans or interdisciplinarity &#8211; and what were the challenges?<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What elements are essential to the design and practice of transdisciplinary projects if they are to a) integrate and b) effectively communicate findings?<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After discussion, highlights were shared with the rest of the participants.
