How often did you visit blue spaces as a kid? How often do you visit blue spaces now? A recent study by Vitale and colleagues (2022) has found that across 18 countries, going to blue spaces during childhood is linked to better well-being in adulthood. The study suggested that this might be due to those who had childhood experiences in blue spaces being more motivated to seek out blue spaces in adulthood, therefore making more visits, and this was linked to better well-being. Results from this study emphasised the need to protect natural blue spaces and suggested the need for policies to encourage higher contact with blue spaces under safe and accessible conditions.
