We are well into bird nesting season, which runs between the months of March and September inclusive.  During this time, hedge-cutting and tree works are avoided and can only be done if the area has been thoroughly checked by a member of the Grounds Team, to make sure there are no birds nesting that will be disturbed by the works.  It is actually an offence under Section 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981 to intentionally take, damage or destroy the nest of any wild bird while it is in use or being built.
