For the fifth year running, the University of Exeter‘s Grounds team have teamed up with the local charity Hospiscare to recycle Christmas trees and support terminally ill people and their families.

In exchange for a donation to Hospiscare, volunteers collected trees from households across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. The trees were taken to the University’s Streatham Campus and were chipped by the Grounds team. The chippings will be sustainably used as mulch for the shrub beds on campus grounds.

2,200 Christmas trees were collected over 3 days by 114 volunteers and chipped by the Grounds team – raising a record breaking £46,000 for Hospiscare! This amount raised will help deliver Hospiscare’s specialist end of life care for people living with a terminal diagnosis across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Thank you everyone for your hard work, time and generosity 😁
