The R1 rugby pitch at our Topsham Sports Ground has been transformed – from the image on the left to the image on the right and in just six weeks!
Firstly the top 15-20mm of the pitch was removed by a Koro machine.
The pitch was then ameliorated with 120 tonnes of sports sand and seeded with a bespoke Exeter University seed mix.
Controlled release fertiliser was then applied and irrigated as required.
The height of cut has been kept to 50mm until last week when it was reduced gradually to 35mm.
To finish, standard release fertiliser was applied this week.
Transformation complete!
