Today, 20 May, is World Bee Day, a chance to recognise the vital role bees play in our environment and celebrate the work being done to support them.

At the University of Exeter, the Grounds Team actively creates and maintains spaces that help pollinators thrive across our campuses. Bees are essential for pollinating plants, supporting biodiversity, and sustaining healthy ecosystems.

Across our campuses, the Grounds Team actively supports pollinator populations by creating and maintaining habitats that encourage biodiversity. This includes:

๐ŸŒผ Planting pollinator-friendly flowers in beds and borders
๐ŸŒฟ Establishing native wildflower areas
๐ŸŒณ Managing green spaces in a way that allows wildlife to thrive

By continuing to enhance these habitats, the University contributes to a healthier, more sustainable environmentโ€”not just for bees, but for all species that depend on diverse ecosystems.

๐ŸŒฑ Small actions, such as planting for pollinators, can have a big impact.
